Scenes of evidence, index or imprint. While taking these photographs the subjects and settings didn’t offer me the beauty of narrative possibility (who left this object, what is behind that corner etc.), but a stubborn sense of nothing beyond or behind–a closed-ness.
I understand these images as a world of “mysterious lack”. My relationship to them phases. At moments there is poetic wholeness (ownership), but this wavers with a feeling that the photographs are mute, and unmasterable. From transmitting, to non-transmitting. It is the point between these two sensations that has forced me to create and collect this work.
